60{6060b2de664e4eaa3e7b7e86961ce2c4bbd7a29b6c1097abf8257a4e5b07383e} of job seekers are most annoyed and frustrated by the lack of, or more accurately, no communication, from recruiters when applying for a job, a recent poll by webrecruit has revealed.
The poll, carried out on LinkedIn by online recruiter, webrecruit, further revealed 29{6060b2de664e4eaa3e7b7e86961ce2c4bbd7a29b6c1097abf8257a4e5b07383e} of respondents were most annoyed about not receiving feedback after being shortlisted for a position.
7{6060b2de664e4eaa3e7b7e86961ce2c4bbd7a29b6c1097abf8257a4e5b07383e} are frustrated by auto-respond replies, and the remaining 4{6060b2de664e4eaa3e7b7e86961ce2c4bbd7a29b6c1097abf8257a4e5b07383e} were frustrated by other parts of the job seeking process, such as applying for ‘fake jobs’ and filling out lengthy application forms.
These latest findings are indicative of the reliance today’s recruiter has on technology and mass communication – resulting in candidate care no longer being a priority.
Phil Roebuck, Founder of webrecruit said: ‘These findings are just the icing on the cake when it comes to the injustices of recruiting.
‘As a recruiter, it’s our job to help align a person’s talent with what is possible within our client’s company by building relationships and communicating with our candidates’.
The poll taken by 271 candidates was designed to understand how the recruitment landscape has changed – for better or worse – and the impact this has had on job seekers as a result.
Further commenting, Phil adds: ‘Never providing feedback or communication can be debilitating to a candidate’s enthusiasm and confidence in their search for a new opportunity.
‘As a candidate, although rejection can be painful, it’s as valuable in their search for a new position as a phone call to say they have been shortlisted or you have a suitable vacancy’.
By understanding what annoys or confuses candidates most about the job seeking process, we can start bringing recruitment back to the basics and focus on building a great candidate experience again.
