CTO, Leading eCommerce Platform Provider

A well known international high profile eCommerce platform provider had recently lost their CTO to a competitor and so needed help to find a replacement. After preparing a detailed proposal MSC won the bid against 2 other firms based on the reassurance our 3 unique guarantees provided to the client. The company had an urgent requirement and there was no margin for error so a thorough retained process was vital to ensure a smooth transition once the incumbent had completed their notice period. With our clients HQ in Paris, MSC were limited to sourcing candidates who either already live locally or were willing to relocate. We took a detailed description of requirements from the client in order to understand exactly what they wanted. A role profile was constructed along with details of the goals, challenges and expectations of the post within the first 6-12 months.

After approaching over 100 candidates working within the eCommerce space across Europe our team of researchers passed the best 20 individuals to the MSC consultants working on the project. They were all telephone screened and then the best 10 were interviewed internationally in person by an MSC Director. Following these rigorous inspections and a thorough face to face meeting as well as reference checking, a shortlist of 4 world-class candidates each with a detailed report was provided to the client. It was very difficult to make a final selection due to the exceptional quality, high calibre and competitive technical knowledge of the candidates.

Six weeks after commission, MSC had successfully filled the vacancy which was in fact completed 2 weeks ahead of the guaranteed time scale. The client actually hired two candidates, one to work as CTO and the other as VP of Engineering, therefore ensuring they had the best technology leaders ahead of their IPO, adding strength and future proofing their solution.
