The REC met with top policy advisors at 10 Downing Street yesterday to talk about the youth contract and career progression.
REC director of policy Tom Hadley and senior policy advisor Chris Wilford highlighted how recruitment agencies are key players in their local labour markets and have a major role to perform in promoting sustainable employment.
REC director of policy & professional services Tom Hadley says:
“Careers and earning progression is right at the top of the political agenda as the UK’s welfare system undergoes unprecedented reform. This meeting represents a huge step forward for our industry as the government acknowledges the important role that recruitment agencies and individual recruiters play in the jobs market.
“We touched on the educational, cultural and personal barriers to earnings progression and the nature of interventions that could support individuals to stay in employment and get ahead in their chosen careers. This could range from online navigation tools that help people understand the opportunities available to them in their industry, to tailored training solutions that help small business attract and retain talent.”
The REC continues to work with the government to highlight the valuable role the recruitment industry can play in promoting careers and earnings progression.
